Exploring Google Maps |
Google Maps is a key tool for anyone living in this day-and-age. It helps us when we're lost and can provide accurate directions on command if you have a smart phone. The project we created in class with Google Maps allowed us to utilize Google Maps for more than just directions. We were able to take simple virtual field trips and view locations from ground level. We also learned how to save certain locations, find latitude and longitude, and find directions between certain locations.
This project would be helpful for a teacher who is new to his or her area. If a teacher is not from the same neighborhood that their school is in, he/she may not know about many of the resources around them. When making this map, we found local restaurants, parks, libraries, zoos, aquariums, and learning centers. Google Maps was one of the more difficult projects to create because it's not an application that many of us are used to working with.
